Trianon Lofts is POAH’s newest addition to Woodlawn Park, which consists of a variety of distinctive structures combining residential, commercial and recreational uses that have made it the center of a healthy new community. Trianon Lofts adds a multi-dimensional  aspect to the revitalization, comprising 24 units of mixed-income housing, 7,000-square-feet of ground-floor retail space and 24 outdoor parking spaces. This environmentally conscious apartment building serves an emerging market in Woodlawn (half of the units  will be rented at market rates and half will be made available to residents earning 50-80 percent of area median income) and features two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartments  (900 sf to 950 sf each) with 10 ft. high ceilings.

Funding sources for the four-story building include $3.3 million in New Markets Tax Credit equity, $2.5 million in City of Chicago NSP funds, $3.3 million in HUD Choice Grant funds and a $3 million private construction loan. Part of the continuing redevelopment of Woodlawn’s former Grove Parc Apartments, the complex is named for the historically significant Trianon Ballroom, a cultural treasure that was located nearby from 1922-1967.

The project architect is UrbanWorks, an internationally-recognized, minority women-owned Chicago architectural firm. UrbanWorks is committed to producing  socially and environmentally responsible designs for civic, community-based, private and commercial sector clients.
