Cromwell Court Apartments in Hyannis will receive a new playground thanks to a $15,000 grant from Keurig Dr. Pepper (KDP) and the national nonprofit KaBOOM!.

The Let’s Play Community Construction Grant was awarded to the Boston-based Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), which owns and operates the 124-unity family affordable housing development.

“The grant will be used to replace an older playground with a brand-new play structure designed to suit the needs of the 100-plus children who call the community home,” said Julianna Stuart, director of Community Impact at POAH Communities. “The new playground will enhance the existing community’s amenities by inspiring the children at Cromwell Court to play imaginatively.”

Stuart noted that research shows play also has an important role in supporting families. A survey conducted by Foresters showed that 77 percent of parents felt that spending more time at a playground increases a family’s sense of well-being.
