2018 Connecticut Preservation Awards Recipients Announced
Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation has announced its annual Connecticut Preservation Awards, recognizing outstanding preservation projects and people who have made significant contributions to the preservation of Connecticut’s historic buildings and places. POAH is a recipient for its redevelopment in Hartford. The awards will be presented on Thursday, April 5, at the Edmond Town Hall in Newtown.

“The 2018 Connecticut Trust awards program is a joyful event recognizing people and projects that make Connecticut a better place to live,” said Wes Haynes, Director of External Partnerships. “The visions and hard work behind each award are triumphant success stories of historic preservation’s value in our local economies and cultural life.”

Preservation of Affordable Housing, Melville Charitable Trust, Billings Forge Community Works, Epsilon Associates, Inc., The Architectural Team, Inc., Keith Construction, Inc., and DH Bolton, Inc. are being recognized for their work at Billings Forge Apartments.

"Billings Forge, one of Hartford’s first major adaptive-use projects, has been re-rehabbed for a new generation. Even more important is its enhanced role as a hub of the Frog Hollow neighborhood, with apartments, job-training, a restaurant, a community garden and a farmer’s market. As workplace, residence, and neighborhood anchor, Billings Forge is a dynamic fusion of past and present."
