Ms. Gonzalez is the Project Director for the Woodlawn Choice Neighborhoods Initiative (CNI) People Component. In 2011, the Woodlawn team received a HUD Choice Neighborhoods Initiative implementation grant in the amount of $30.5 million that is supporting new and renovated housing, programs and services for residents, broader investment in community schools, public safety, infrastructure, job training, and more.
She coordinates all relevant functions to analyze, implement and complete the People component of the Plan, including the overall education strategy. She serves as POAH’s liaison to tenants, residents, and the wider community.

Previously she worked for the Near West Side Community Development Corporation, one of Chicago’s oldest and most prominent community organizations, most recently as deputy director. She also ran the NWS New Communities Program where she led the planning process to generate a comprehensive community development plan.
She holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois where she also received a Masters in Urban Planning and Policy.
