Jarrett Barrios is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross, Los Angeles Region. Previously, he was CEO of the American Red Cross of Eastern Massachusetts. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representative and State Senate for nine years on the Committees on Housing and Urban Development, Banks and Banking, Bills in the Third Reading and as Senate Chair of the Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee and Vice Chair of the Health Care Committee.
In the House he authored legislation creating the state low-income housing tax credit and a statewide affordable housing trust which provide incentives for developers to create affordable housing. In the Senate, he authored a law designed to protect homeowners from foreclosure and to crack down on unscrupulous subprime lenders.
Barrios practiced law at Hill & Barlow focusing on commercial real estate and affordable housing tax syndication. After leaving the legislature, he served as the president and CEO of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Foundation and of the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and Georgetown Law School.
