Garfield Hills Property Manager receives award from the Calvin Woodland Sr. Foundation

BOSTON- Kadija Samba, Property Manager of the Garfield Hills Apartments in Washington, DC received an award from the Calvin Woodland Sr. Foundation(CWSF), a non-profit organization that assists low-income families in the neighborhood around Garfield. Garfield Hills is owned by Boston-based Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc..
“She’s helping us change lives,” said Tywannda Blount, Treasurer/Acting Secretary of the foundation.
Samba works with CWSF to identify individuals and families in need and to help connect them with needed services.
The Foundation is named in honor of the late Calvin Woodland Sr. It was founded by his family members to continue the volunteer work he did all his life helping those in need. “He lived in that neighborhood when times were tough and made the decision to stay there even when he could have afforded to move out,” said Blount. “He wanted to stay so he could continue to help his neighbors.”
